College Bands
St. Patrick’s College has a proud tradition with bands stretching back to 1962. Today the College boasts of a Junior and Senior Band as well as a Marching Band, Drum Squad and a Guitar Ensemble.
The College Marching Band proudly participates in the St. Patrick’s City Parade each year. Another significant event is Anzac Day when each year the Marching Band leads the Dawn Service organised by the Miranda RSL Sub Branch before going on to march and play in the main City Parade.
Our College Stage Band assists the Year 12 Senior HSC Class each year and competes in the Engadine Bandfest. In 2008 it received the first ever to be awarded “Gold Plus” in that competition. The stage band also participates in the showcase nights, assemblies and the Gymea Village Fair.
A recent addition to our bands is the Drum squad which plays on Australia Day at the Sutherland Shire festivities at South Cronulla and at College Assemblies. The Guitar ensemble is another emerging group and they feature in our Starsearch Competition each June.
The Senior and Junior Concert bands have had great success in the Engadine Bandfest and the NSW School Band Festival. In 2008 our Junior Band received a Silver Plus and Gold Award at these competitions whilst our Senior Band received two Gold Awards.
Our College Bands are a great testimony to the strong musical life of St. Patrick’s College.
